For this essay, I will give you four topics to choose from. You are also welcome to write about a different topic if there is a story from outside this class that you would like to analyze, but please discuss it with me first before you write your essay.
Here are your essay topics. CHOOSE ONE:

2) Choose one of the stories that you read in this class and discuss how the author uses symbolism in the story.
3) Choose one of the stories that you read in this class and discuss how the author uses irony in the story and what this does for the story.
4) Choose one of the stories that you read in this class and discuss how the author uses dialogue to portray the characters. How does the dialogue in the story further the reader’s understanding of the characters?
