Though Janssen and Wimmer (2015) used the word stakeholder over 600 times in their textbook, yet they failed to define the stakeholder. However, one may use the manual of the Project Management Institute (PMI, 2017), and borrow the definition of a stakeholder:
“a stakeholder is an individual, group, or organization that may affect, be affected by, or perceive itself to be affected by a decision, activity, or the outcome of a project. Project stakeholders may be internal or external to the project; they may be actively involved, passively involved, or unaware of the project. Project stakeholders may have a positive or negative impact on the project or be positively or negatively impacted by the project” (PMI, 2017).
As a Ph.D. candidate, you will include a section of definitions as a part of your dissertation. The above description is an opportunity to start viewing definitions, and you need to write your reflection on the above definition.
