Each student will view a TED TALK on an HRM topic as covered in our textbook and/or in course materials. Carefully review the topic and TED TALK recommendations. Write a brief report of key points mentioned by the presenter. Relate these points to course content and explain how you would use this information to enhance the HR Department and/or improve your current workplace.
Write a 1-page report. Use standard 12- point font, 1-inch margins, single space, and write a minimum of 500 words. A paragraph must consist of at least three sentences. Times New Roman is preferred but not required. The assignment will be graded on the following components:
Write a short paragraph (at least 3 sentences) summarizing the purpose of the talk and its intended audience and how it relates to the workplace (up to 5 points).
Write a paragraph succinctly summarizing the 3 main points of this talk. Ensure that you do not retell any stories that the speaker presented. Do not cite outdated statistics. Use transitional sentences to establish a connection between what the speaker discussed and the material presented in this course. Do not submit an outline of the main points (up to 20 points).
Write a paragraph analyzing the applicability of these suggestions to HRM concepts discussed in the textbook or supplemental materials. Use examples of organizations listed in the textbook/supplemental materials or your current workplace, former employer, volunteer organizations, student organizations, etc. Specifically, address: Are the presenter’s key points in support of these concepts? Are the presenter’s key points in conflict with some of these concepts? Be specific as to which concepts the talk relates to and use in-text citations and references to clearly support your arguments (up to 25 points).
Write a paragraph explaining your opinion with respect to the presenter’s suggestions. You may disagree with them or you may support them. Attempt to argument yourself by providing context and more details as to which industry these suggestions may apply to (e.g., motivating employees through bonuses has a short-term effect) (up to 10 points).
Write a paragraph describing how you would implement the presenter’s suggestions in an organization to solve HRM challenges. Address policies, procedures, norms and clearly outline a plan and timeline for implementation. For example, if the presenter is suggesting instituting a new pet-friendly policy, specify how you will: a) gather data b) present to leadership c) make decisions and seek input from employees d) draft policies and procedures e) communicate to employees f) provide ongoing support (up to 40 points).

It is acceptable to go over the 1-page requirement, but please do not write more than 2 pages (references are excluded from page count). Analyze the main points in the recording and pay special attention to the recommendations section and the implementation timeline.
