Each student pair will present a brief debate about the public health issue with one student presenting the “pro” side of the issue and the other student presenting the “con” side of the issue. Students should be prepared to:
Each student will prepare and present a two-minute speech presenting their argument. Student presentations should be supported by evidence-based research from scholarly sources or professional organization. The arguments may be supported by scientific facts and moral or ethical concerns.
The pro speaker will present first to persuade the class in their favor. The first speaker will define essential terms related to the issue, provide rationale in support of their position, and summarize important points.
The con speaker will follow with opposing arguments and/or present an opposing case, redefine terms, and summarize important points.
After the initial presentations of the pro and con side of the issue, students will give a one minute rebuttal to their opponent’s position.
Students need to submit in Black Board their prepared speech and a list of references (in APA format)
