How much did you learn in high school about the history of race and ethnicity in the United States? Do you think you should have learned more?

The map below using Census data and the federal poverty level to illustrate the percent of the population living below the poverty line in each state. How does your home state rank? Thinking about the history of your state, are there any structural explanations for these experiences of poverty? What trends and patterns do you observe generally?
