Literature Review Assignment Guidelines The Literature Review will be evaluated using the following criteria (75 points total): Include in-text citations Introduction (10 points) In the introduction section, you should present the literature review topic and any relevant research questions discussed in class. Provide your rationale for reviewing the topic. In other words, why is it important to study this topic? How does it affect people? You will be graded on your presentation of rationale and following the sequence noted above (i.e., topic, research questions, rationale). Body Paragraphs (50 points) In the body paragraphs of your literature review, you should have the literature organized into coherent themes. You should integrate the studies, their findings, and conclusions based on these themes, rather than presenting each article in sequence. You will work to compare the findings, using the critiques of each study that you discussed in your annotated bibliography to help inform this analysis. You will also be graded on the organization of the material presented. We discussed many alternative ways to organize the body paragraphs of your literature review. For example, you can begin with a broad overview of the topic, and narrow down the review to increasingly specific issues. You could also organize the body paragraphs by literature with similar methodology, samples, or findings. Conclusion (10 points) In the conclusion section, you will provide a summary of the literature review. Discuss the general findings, conclusions, and implications. In other words, discuss why these study findings are important. Why should we, as readers, care? Note any limitations of the review, along with future directions.
