Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI)

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) refers to the standards that offer educators a clear and consistent goal to help prepare teachers for their future lives. These standards help teachers to demonstrate to students what is expected in each grade level to ensure adequate support from teachers and parents collaboratively (Burnaford & Brown, 2014). Educators are required to find ways to ensure compliance with these standards hence helping students succeed in their after school lives. These standards allow teachers to be creative in their teaching approaches and materials, as long as they meet these standards.

CCSS and Technology

CCSS can influence the use of technology for differentiation through technology as a tool for accomplishing these specific standards. Today, teachers are allowed to Step out of the classroom and incorporate different teaching styles and personalities to meet each student’s learning needs (Stern, 2015). Technology can allow teachers to present learning in various ways, including images, simulations, and tutorials to meet different learning needs.

Importance of Purposeful Planning

Teachers need to ensure that the adopted technology correlates with the standards and allows learning the same content in different ways. Purposeful planning of learning instructional strategies is essential for promoting student learning. It allows teachers to plan for activities and categorize students based on their learning needs and interests. Purposeful planning will enable teachers to have better opportunities to meet students’ developmental goals and the CSS standards (Stern, 2015). Planning also helps in evaluating a teaching strategy. For instance, planning allows educators to anticipate and identify ways to participate in the learning process hence providing the necessary materials and equipment.

Redesigning Challenges

The greatest challenge when redesigning the programs during the week one assignment was figuring out how each program correlates with the CCSS standards and how they implement outcomes of the 21st-century framework. During the redesigning process, I also considered the MAECEl program learning outcomes, which was also challenging.
